Door in the Wall Book Report

The title of my book is Door in the Wall, and the aurthor is Maguerite de Angeli. The main characters are Robin, son of Sir John de Bureford, Brother Luke, a kind monk who cares for Robin, John Go-in-the-Wynd, a minstral that helps Brother Luke and Robin. The setting is in London, England, and Linsey Castle--Middle Ages. The plot is Robin's father is sent to war and his mother to help the Queen. Tobin is taken to become a knight like his father, but falls ill, leaving his legs useless and himself weakened, left inthe care of a stiff old lady. The old lady falls ill with the plague, leaving him helpless. Then Brother Luke finds him and takes him to St. Mark's Hospice. There he learns to whittle and makes himself a pair of crutches. He gets a letter telling him to go to the Castle Linsey, accompanied by John Go-in-the-Wynd. There the Welsh attack and seige them. Robin sneaks out and sends a message to the army saying the castle was under attack. The army comes and beats the Welsh and Robin sees his father and mother again.
I love the story, action and characters. And I recommend it for every fantasy or history lover.---Philip Akins

Twins

Twins are double the trouble. We didn't know that until they were born, Lily and Wyatt. Oh, how they were trouble. They cried and screamed for hours. But the good thing about them is when when they fall asleep you can hear little snores from their crib. Oh, how they're so cute! Love Abigail

Our Trip to Disney World

Most people think Disney World is the happiest place in the world. We thought that, too.Little did we know Disney world has tons of surprises.
One surprise was that I thought I would love the Lilo and Stitch ride. But I didn't like it that much. The ride annoyed me at first and then it scared me. It annoyed me because it "burped" me right in the face and then sprayed me with a terrible smell. Then the light turns off and Stitch escapes.

Another surprise was the Rainforest Cafe. I thought it would be a regular restaurant that was dressed up a little bit like a rainforest. Turns out it had robot animals that really moved. It had amazing fish in huge tanks. And it even stormed inside.

The greatest surprise of all was that I found out I liked roller coasters. My favorite was Mission Space. It felt like you were really in space and you each got your own job.It was scary at first but that was half the fun.

These were just a few of the surprises at Disney World.

Fall Leaves

My family has enjoyed fall this year. The leaves are red, orange, yellow, and brown. We first noticed when we were on the highway. We were on our way to see our cousins. We all picked our favorites. I really liked the orange trees.--From Abigail

Disney September '05

This past September, our family had the fantastic opportunity to visit Disney World for the first time. God provided in amazing ways before and during our trip. We stayed at the Westgate Villas Resort--absolutely the best place to stay in Orlando, and visited all four major Disney parks. Our tickets were provided by a very giving cast member who treated us like royalty the whole week--Thank you so much, Wayne!
Here are a few scenes from our dream vacation...

Philip enjoying the sights and sounds of MGM Studios.

Here is the gang at Animal Kingdom.

I will add more pictures when I have more time. This was truly one of the best trips we have ever taken.

The Sears Family Has Grown By Four Feet!!

Here is my adorable new niece and nephew. They were born just one week ago today. That is Wyatt Cooper on the left and Lillian Marie on the right. They are such a blessing from God and the most fun to play with. Lilly loves to "visit" with us and is quite mellow. She also loves getting a bath. Wyatt is a little more..shall we say... up tight, but he just enjoys sleeping beside his sister. The picture at the bottom is their big sister'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;" href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=1&k=big%20sister">big sister, Brittany. She LOVES them and is a great help to her parents. Her favorite thing to do these days is watch movies while holding one of the babies. She's going to be a great Mommy some day... MANY years from now.

Thoughts on blogging and moles!

Well, as you can see I haven't posted anything of note. Blogging is all new to me. This was sort of a trial basis, to see if I had anything useful to say.

Today I spent time at home with my wife since I had a dentist appointment. I also got some much needed time in the yard. By the way.... I hate moles! My daughters and I had carefully dug up 100 or so jonquil bulbs from an aunt's yard. I had carefully cured them all summer and finally planted them last week so that the ugly blight of a hill would be bursting forth in glorious daffodil-dum in Feb. Man plans and God laughs. Apparently He saw fit to feed his humble digging creations a nice bulb fiesta. I noticed the ground looked a little more tilled than we had left it. A closer inspection revealed the tell-tale tunnels (alliteration!) of the terrible mole. THe tunnels formed a nice neat pattern mimicking the freshly dug rows of bulbs.

Now...I haven't even seen a trace of these little insectivores in my yard but plant a smorgasbord of flowering roots and suddenly I'm invaded. There must be a leak somewhere...It gives a new meaning to the CIA usage of the term.
